Bill Stark- Senior Warden

Bill joined the Episcopal Church at age 11 after spending his earliest years as a Presbyterian. He was confirmed at St. James Episcopal Church, Elmhurst, NYC, which was founded by Queen’s Charter in 1704. After completing a Masters degree he made a brief detour to the Roman Catholic Church. Shortly after Bill and Theresa were married, they joined an Episcopal congregation in Fulton , NY. After moving to Connecticut in 2001, they became members of St John’s by the Sea, thus arriving at Church of the Holy Spirit. Bill served on the Vestry at St. John’s during the merger and was re-elected to a three-year term at CHS.

Bill is an Emeritus Professor of Theatre Design from Oswego State University (SUNY), where he taught for 32 years. He still does scenery and lighting design for various theatres in the area and often paints scenery at the Long Wharf Theatre. Theresa is an AEA (union) stage manager and is currently production coordinator for Yale Opera and an adjunct at SCSU. She also sings with the choir and is active with the Hospitality Committee. Their son Billy attends the Engineering and Science University Magnet School and is accomplished on the saxophone. He is a member of the Greater New Haven Concert Band and is currently an assistant Sunday School teacher.

Bill currently heads the CHS Strategic Planning Committee and serves ex officio on the Property Committee. Bill is vitalized by the emerging strengths of our congregation and is humbled to be helping us to live into Our Mission and The Baptismal Covenant.
